Particulate emissions from paint spray booths are subject to the same stringent controls as emissions from any other industrial activity and as such must comply with the countries current environmental legislation - Environmental Protection Act 1990 here in the UK. The Environment Agency together with local authorities rigorously enforces the Environmental Protection Act. Many industry sectors, such as Aerospace, Metal Fabrication, and Furniture Manufacturing need to finish their products using a wet paint systems.
The usual way to control paint particle emissions, as well as the flammable vapours, arising from the spraying of wet paints is to use a ventilated spray booth or spray room fitted with the appropriate exhaust filter media. There are two forms of exhaust filter media, the first and most commonly used, is the concertina paper filter media available in both standard and high efficiency versions, and secondly the paint stop fibre filter media.
Separation and capture of the air borne paint droplets is more effective when using the concertina paper filter media than when the paint stop fibre media is used. Concertina paper filter media or inertia filters as they are sometimes known remain effective for longer periods whilst providing a consistently low resistance to the air flow.

For applications requiring the highest degree of filtration our customers choose the Airflow High Efficiency version which is a laminate of our standard concertina paper media with a layer of polyester fibres bonded to the reverse side. These fibres capture the finer particles that are too small to be arrested by the primary paper filter layer. By the very nature of its construction the high efficiency version has a greater particle retention capacity therefor extending the life of the filter media.
The Airflow concertina paper filter media must not be confused with the inferior and cheaper brown paper filters that are available both on the internet and from distributors in the UK; ours is a very high quality media that provides long operating life and excellent value for money.
Airflow Paint Stop Filter Media - Airflow Paint Stop Filter Media is manufactured from spun fibres and is supplied either on a roll or cut into pre-sized panels. As it is possible to simply peel off the front layer of fibres, together with the accumulated dried paint, this media is sometimes referred to as 'Soil and Strip' filter media or 'Open Weave' filter media.
Airflow Air Inlet Filter Media - Airflow air inlet cartridge panel filters are tested according to EN779, flame resistant according to DIN53438 and can be supplied in filter class G2 (EU2) to F9 (EU9). Standard stock sizes are 500mm and 600mm square. Other sizes are available on request.
